Sotomayor Admits Her Own Inadequacies.

Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor released materials and videos relating to her work on the bench the past couple of decades.  As outlined by a recent news article, one of the videos shows her speaking out about the fact that she was a product of affirmative action.  In fact, she called herself an "affirmative action baby".  She admits that her scores were not as high as other applicants, yet she was allowed entrance into Princeton and Yale because she was a Hispanic female.  She points to this situation as proof positive that affirmative action works, provided you overlook the fact that she has been overturned by the Supreme Court 5 out of 6 times.

Now, they want your pocket knives.

Once again, we're at a crossroads right now where we need you to speak out about your rights as an outdoors person and as an American citizen.  Recently, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency put forth a proposal that will have profound effects throughout our great country.  No, it's not about guns this time.  They are attempting to re-define certain types and styles of knives that are available for importation, and as a result, reshape the entire market for common pocket knives.  On the surface level, they are talking about which knives should be categorized as "switchblades", but when you dig further into the information, you'll find much more.

Expedition Africa is close to home.

A friend of ours, Kevin Estela (left in the picture) served as a consultant and survival expert for the television production of Expedition Africa that's currently on the History Channel. He's a survival instructor for the Wilderness Learning Center in Chateaugay, New York.  It's a great show full of good information, lots of history, and tips and tricks to use out in the field. From what I have seen so far, this is the most realistic survival type show that I have seen on TV. It's not a docu-drama or a popularity contest. It's a group of folks hitting some of the harshest terrain on the planet in an attempt to relive history in that region. If you like outdoors topics and would like to learn about various survival techniques for the outdoors, then this show just might be for you!

Standardization As Part Of Readiness

With the recent furor over the economy and other issues dealing with government control in all aspects of every day life, a lot of people have taken to getting themselves prepared for hard times in one way or another---or a lot of ways. Many of these people are just now getting into this way of thinking, so they've come to the party a little late, and it might take a bit of time and effort to catch up with others. But, a little forethought and organization might help them beat the clock if they have the ability to step back and get a "big picture" look at things.

Armed Robber, Dead Meat At Burger King

In Miami, an armed robber had the back luck of picking the wrong Burger King to rob.  The Miami Herald reports in their article that an armed customer with a legal CCW threw down with the bandit.  The civilian received multiple gunshot wounds, but he got the better end of the deal.  The robber died from the civilian's gunfire.  Outstanding.  Other than the good samaritan getting wounded in the process, this ended the way it should end--with the Burger King bandit dead.  Saved the cost of a trial and housing him in prison.

There will be lots of people crying out about this, saying it's better not to get involved or fight back.  But, you never know what's going to happen.  Had the armed civilian not been present, the thug could have executed the employees with no repercussions and made his escape.

Best wishes to the responsible citizen who took the fight to the aggressor and probably ended up saving lives!

Liberty And Tyranny

A new book released today is getting favorable reviews over at American ThinkerLiberty and Tyranny, written by Mark Levin, discusses not only the founding principles of our nation, but how they relate to the issues that are dividing the two major parties in America.  This sounds like another great book on conservative principles, much like The Five Thousand Year Leap.  It might be a good one to pick up and peruse during your leisure time.

N.R.A. Goes To Court, Yet Again

Once again, the National Rifle Association has to file another lawsuit in order for Americans to exercise their Second Amendment rights.  Recently, a District Court judge overturned a rule allowing citizens with to carry a firearm in a National Park if they have the ability to carry in that same state.  This rule was put in place by the Bush administration, and went into effect on 01/09/2009.  I'm fairly sure that some liberal hocho put a feeler out to the more liberal justices to see if any of them would overturn the new regulation.  Of course, they found one.
